SSD (solid-state drive) make your notebook fast

A solid-state drive (SSD) is a data storage device which uses integrated circuit assemblies as memory to store data persistently. SSDs have no moving mechanical component like traditional electromechanical magnetic disk such as HDDs (Hard Disk Drive).  This gives SSD the advantages of being much quicker, less susceptible to physical shock, lower access time and less latency. Due to their advanced specifications, SSDs are more expensive than HDDs.

What difference will a SSD (solid-state drive) make to your laptop?

Advantages:

* Your notebook will boot-up  in seconds
* Reading on SSD is very fast,  running a application/ program will launch very quickly.
* SDD are more durable, less susceptible tophysical shock.
* No noise when running
* Minimum power required to run

Disadvantages:

* SDDs are expensive
* Less capacity (no larger sizes of SSD available)
* The write / erase cycle for SSDs are limited, they can normally only do 1000 to 10,000 write cycles, up to a max of 100,000 cycles. (HDD has 1-5 million write cycles)
* The writing speed of a SSD is slower.

Where to buy SSD for your laptop?

You can buy SSDs from any Electronics shops like Best Buy, Future Shops, Staples  etc.

 You can also replace your laptop's HDD with SSD!

* Most HDD's and SSD's are SATA-compitable only (Check your laptop specs).
